The Organisation undertakes to select the members of the jury and the candidates,
excluding any discrimination based on origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, sexual orientation or any other grounds.
religious beliefs or any other characteristic protected by law.


The Maurice André International Trumpet Competition 2027 is divided into four successive stages:

1. preselection on video,
2. first round (play-off),
3. semi-final (play-off),
4. finale with orchestra.
 
At the end of the semi-final, a maximum of three candidates will be admitted to the final. 

The jury for the 8th Maurice André International Trumpet Competition will be made up of leading international figures from the world of music.

The jury will be announced on 21 April.

The jury's decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

Video pre-selection

All applicants must submit a link to an unedited pre-selection video by 15 October 2026 to the following address

The video must include :

  • a work of your choice for trumpet in C from the first round ;
  • a work of your choice for piccolo trumpet from the first round. 

The indicative maximum length of the video is 12 minutes.
The recording must be taken continuously, without editing, cutting, sound modification or audio processing. It must be less than one year old and accompanied by piano music.

First round

Maximum duration: 20 minutes

The programme includes :

1. A work of your choice for trumpet in C :

  • Henri Tomasi, Concerto for trumpet (1st movement)
  • Jean Françaix, Sonatine

2. A work of your choice for piccolo trumpet :

  • Georg Philipp Telemann, Concerto in D major, 1st movement (Adagio), TWV 51:D7
  • Leopold Mozart, Concerto in D major, 1st movement (Adagio), LMW IX:13 

3. The 2027 competition commission for Bb trumpet

The order scores will be sent to the selected candidates no later than 21 December 2026.

Semi-final

Maximum duration: 25 minutes

The programme includes :

1. A work for piccolo trumpet :

  • Johann Wilhelm Hertel, Concerto No.1 in E-flat Major

2. A work of your choice for Bb trumpet or Bb cornet:

  • Jean-Baptiste Arban, Variations on the Venice Carnival (without introduction)*
  • Jean-Baptiste Arban, Theme and variations on Norma (Bellini)**
  • Jean-Baptiste Arban, Theme and variations on the Tyrolean traverse**

*Piano accompaniment: Marc Reift edition
**Piano accompaniments: Carl Fischer Music edition

3. A compulsory work, on an instrument chosen by the candidate:

  • Edward Elgar, Love salute, tone and edition of the candidate's choice
  • Alexandre Glazunov, Albumblatt
  • Fritz Kreisler, Liebesleid, tone and edition of the candidate's choice
  • Sergei Rachmaninov, Vocalise, op. 34 n°14, key and edition to be chosen by the candidate

Piano accompaniment will be provided by the competition's official pianists.

Finale with orchestra

The finalists perform a programme with orchestra including :

  • Johann Nepomuk Hummel, trumpet concerto in E flat major (version performed with the Orchestra: Kalmus edition) ;
  • Alfred Desenclos, Incantation, Threne and Dance

The final will be supported by the Garde Républicaine Symphony Orchestra

The finalists will be able to rehearse with the orchestra the day before the final on 20 February 2027, at times to be announced.

In addition to the prize money, the winners of the Competition may be awarded additional prizes, such as instruments and/or touring and/or concert engagements, as determined by the Organisation.
